The School Day
Please make every effort to attend school each day and to plan vacation time during official school days off. Please refer to the School Calendar distributed separately and available below.
Student School Hours. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: Student Arrival 8:45am, School Activities 9:00 am -3:00 pm.
Wednesday: Student Arrival 8:45am, School Activities 9:00 am -1:00 pm (no lunch).
Children should arrive at 8:45 am. School begins promptly at 9:00 am. Entrance is up the covered ramp and to the classroom. Please respect the guides’ and fellow students’ class rhythm by ensuring your child is on time and ready to begin at 9:00. As per the school policy, late arrivals count towards student absences.
In case of late arrival, students arriving after 9:00 must be escorted into the office by an adult and signed in.
In case of delayed opening, including on a Wednesday, the school day will run from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ridge and Valley Charter School follows the North Warren Regional cluster, particularly Blairstown Elementary School, in delayed openings, as many of our students travel via North Warren Regional cluster buses. Delayed openings and closings are posted on www.weatherclosings.com and families and staff are also notified via a broadcast phone message system.
Early dismissals due to weather are posted at www.weatherclosings.com and broadcast on local radio stations. Ridge and Valley Charter School follows the North Warren Regional cluster, particularly Blairstown Elementary School, in early dismissals, as many of our students travel via North Warren Regional cluster buses.
In the event of an emergency early closing, you will receive a broadcast phone message system announcement. It is important that the school be able to reach you or your emergency contact person. Please update your emergency contact form annually and indicate a local family who can be responsible for your child should weather delay your arrival.
If your child needs an early dismissal from school for a personal reason, please send a written request to the Guide, and come to the office where you may sign the student out while a staff member collects the student. Students may be out in the field at any time so knowing in advance of your arrival at the office is important in order to have the child packed up and ready to leave with you in a timely manner
